ENTRY TO FOUNDATION STAGE 2 (FIRST STATUTORY SCHOOL YEAR)

Children are admitted into school full time, during the year in which they have their 5th birthday. Admissions to Athelstan are under the control of the Local Education Authority and we follow their admissions policy.

Children may be admitted in either September or January. Our catchment area covers mainly Handsworth and Darnall.

Athelstan may admit pupils up to the schools 'standard number' of 90 children in each year group.

ENTRY INTO YEARS 1 - 6

Parents and carers of older children, moving into the area, are welcome to make an appointment to visit the school and discuss admission.

As with entry into FS2, all applications for places are dealt with by the Local Education Authority's Admissions Team.

When a child has been allocated a place at Athelstan, we invite parents/carers to bring their child to an induction visit, where they can meet their child’s new class teacher and classmates, and look around the school. We will give you a welcome pack, which provides lots of useful information about our school. We will then agree a start date for your child.
