We are still in need of any egg donations. Please feel free to contact ourselves or the office to arrange drop off / collection.
Many thanks, The PTA team
It is World Book Day time again and we can’t wait to celebrate! This year, we invite the children to dress up as their favourite book character. We welcome all costumes, big or small.
If possible, please also allow your child to bring a copy of their chosen book in so that it can be shared during the school day.
Additionally, on the morning of Thursday 7th March, every classroom will be open from 8:35-9:00am for parents and carers to read with their child. Please access your child’s classroom from their usual entrance door and exit the same way.
Finally, your child will come home with their own World Book Day title, as well as a £1 voucher that will allow them to buy another World Book Day book from supermarkets and bookshops (or to enjoy a £1 discount on a full-price book). You can check out the books on offer here:
https://www.worldbookday.com/books-and-tokens/books/
The World Book Day website also has loads of ideas for how your family can celebrate all things reading at home:

We can’t wait to see your fabulous costumes!
(Please note that due to the coal mining trip, Y2AB will be celebrating on Friday 8th March. Costumes may be worn and Y2AB will be open for parent/carer reading that morning.)

Message from Mrs McGrath
I would like to say a huge WELL DONE and THANK YOU to our Athelstan Eco Warriors for planning and running the Eco Cafe during Parents’ Evening last week. The children did an amazing job of planning what to sell and then gave up their own free time to come and help run it with me. What a group of absolute superstars!
I would also like to say a big THANK YOU to all the parents and carers that came and supported the cafe. Your encouragement on the night enabled the Eco Warriors to feel confident and independent - skills they will carry with them and continue to develop as they grow into wonderful, caring adults.
We managed to raise a fantastic £150 for the Rainforest Alliance. Thank you!
Home School Association has a new name! We will now be known as the PTA.
Thank you to those of you who have volunteered to join our association.
We will be holding a meeting in school at 3:30pm on Monday 30th October (the first day back after the half term holiday) to welcome new members and to discuss our plan of events for the year. We hope to see lots of new faces who can help us raise even more money for our children.
Don't worry if you didn't complete the form about volunteering; just come along and see what the PTA is about. Please enter school via the main entrance. Thank you in advance for your support.
Our healthy tuck shop run by our school council, will be up and running everyday again from Monday 18th September for Y3 - Y6 children. Please can we ask that children bring the correct change as we have limited change. Children will only be allowed to purchase one item.

I hope your child is settling into their new class well. It's been so nice to get to know both the school and the children during the last week. On my first day with the staff, we did a little exercise so I could gather views of the staff. I'd now like to ask you the same questions to also gather your views, which will help with our school improvement planning.

On Wednesday 20th September between 3.30pm and 4.00pm, we will be holding an informal drop-in for parents/carers of all children, to discuss how well the children have settled into their new class.
Teachers will be in their classrooms and parents/carers will be able to enter school through the door that you normally collect your child from.
We are holding an informal drop-in session on Wednesday 19th July, between 3.45pm and 4.30pm in the Junior Hall. This will allow parents/carers to discuss their child’s report with their current teacher, and there may be an opportunity to meet their child’s new teacher from September - if they are available. Please note, Miss Booty will unfortunately not be able to attend the drop in session. Please enter the school via the main reception area.
