  • Morning Snacks

    Fri 25 Nov 2022

All pupils are encouraged to bring in a healthy snack to eat during morning playtime. Unfortunately, we are seeing more and more unsuitable options. As a result, we thought it would be useful to publish a list of suggested items:

    • A piece of fresh fruit or vegetable
    • Plain cereal bar - no nuts or chocolate
    • Yoghurt snack (in a tube so no spoons are needed)
    • Dried fruits such as raisins
    • Breadsticks
    • Cheese snacks

Please note that anything containing and/or covered in chocolate is NOT permitted during morning break and pupils will therefore not be allowed to eat them.

Our School Council provides a tuck shop on Tuesdays and Thursdays for pupils in years three to six. They sell healthy snacks, such as breadsticks, yoghurt flakes and dried fruits.

  • Communication

    Fri 18 Nov 2022

Thanks to the increasing number of parents/carers now using TheSchoolApp, we have an effective and convenient way to send messages and reminders to parents/carers which is free of charge to the school. Therefore, routine reminders for items already shared in the newsletter will now only be sent via app message, rather than by both app and email; this will also save parents/carers receiving duplicate messages.

If you would like to join TheSchoolApp and receive app messages, please email mahmed@athelstan.sheffield.sch.uk

Text messages are costly to the school and are only used for messages of an urgent nature. Text messages are sent to contacts who have priority 1 and 2 on the data collection sheet; these were given out during parents’/carers’ evenings this week. Please check it to confirm the correct information and amend if necessary. Please sign and return the form to school, even if all the information is correct. Thank you.

  • Children in Need

    Fri 11 Nov 2022

On Friday the 18th November, we will be having a non-uniform day for Children in Need. For the non-uniform day, we are asking children to come to school wearing something linked to Children in Need! We would like children to wear something yellow, brown or spotty and to bring a £1 donation. Football shirts are not allowed.  Please give your donation to your class teacher.

We are also holding Adopt a Bear! We are asking children if they could donate their unwanted teddies (maximum 2) for us to sell to others from £1 - £3. Please only bring decent toys so that the other children would actually want to adopt them!

If your child would like to purchase a bear, please send their money to school on the day in a named envelope.

  • Y5/Y6 Art Exhibition

    Fri 04 Nov 2022

We will be holding a Y5/Y6 Art Exhibition and parents/carers are invited to visit. To ease congestion, slots have been allocated for each class. Parents/carers should enter school via the main reception area. At the end of each exhibition visit, staff will take the children back to their classroom, making room for the next group to arrive.

The times for each visit are as follows:

    Tuesday 15th November

    Y5LB            2.00pm to 2.15pm

    Y5HB            2.20pm to 2.35pm

    Y5W             2.40pm to 2.55pm

    Thursday 17th November

    Y6D              2.00pm to 2.15pm

    Y6B              2.20pm to 2.35pm

    Y6MT            2.40pm to 2.55pm

Our Y5/Y6 Art Exhibition will be also available to view in the Junior Hall on both parents’/carers’ evenings.

  • Parents’/Carers’ Evenings

    Fri 04 Nov 2022

We would like to invite you to attend one of our Parents’/Carers’ Evenings, in school on Tuesday 15th and Thursday 17th November. This is an important evening and provides you with an opportunity to discuss your child’s wellbeing and education. Please note that these will be face-to-face meetings, held in classrooms.

We will be using the online appointment booking system again this term. This allows you to choose your own appointment times with teachers and you will receive an email confirming your appointments.

Appointments can be made from now until 4pm on Monday 14th November. Should you wish to make any changes after this date, please contact your child’s class teacher.

Please visit https://athelstan.schoolcloud.co.uk to book your appointments. You will need your child’s name, date of birth and your own email address to login.  Please note that the email address you use must match that which we have in school.

A guide of how to use the booking system is attached to the email with this newsletter.

Only those with parental responsibility are able to book an appointment with their child’s class teacher.  For those classes with more than one teacher, you will be able to see which teacher is available on each evening.

If you find that you experience issues logging in, we suggest you try selecting an alternative title, such as Miss, Mrs or Ms.
