  • A Message from our Athelstan Eco Warriors

    Fri 29 Jan 2021

Are you bored with lockdown weekends? Do you like looking out of your window? Well how about this?...

This weekend is the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch. If you fancy spending an hour looking out of your window into your garden or outside area (You don't even have to have a garden!), you could join in with the Garden Birdwatch for 2021. All you need is a pencil and paper and some way of identifying the birds you might see. Ask your grown-ups if they have any bird identification books or maybe you could try using the internet to look up the birds you spot?

You can find all the information you need on the RSPB website www.rspb.org.uk and the best part is it's totally free!

Keeping track of the wildlife we see in our local area is really important. It tells us how well creatures can survive and indicates how well we are looking after our environment. If we don't keep track of the changes, we might be in danger of creating damage to our ecosystem that is irreversible. This means animals and insects may become endangered or may not be able to live in their natural environments.

If you choose to join in this activity, please let us know what you have spotted and how much fun you have had!
  • Live Assembly

    Fri 22 Jan 2021

We enjoy seeing so many of our team during the assemblies; it gives us a real boost seeing you all. These will continue to be held until we can welcome you all back.

For Foundation, these will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

For Y1-Y6 these will be held on Mondays and Thursdays.

Teachers will share timings and reminders for these through Google Classroom.

  • Reading Records and Home Learning

    Fri 15 Jan 2021

We are very grateful to you for continuing to read with your child every day during the Covid-19 school closure. This is so important for their reading progress, and helps them in every other subject too. Please do continue to record your home reads in your child's reading record so that they can be celebrated on our return to school.

We hope that every child is managing to read at least once a day. If your child is a very keen reader and wishes to record more than one daily read in their reading record, this is wonderful news! Please note that each entry should represent a different reading session (e.g. one read in the morning and another in the evening).
