School Council

Athelstan’s Student Council meet once a week during lunch time to discuss school issues, our action plan and how to improve school life.

The School Council aims to:

  • Help make Athelstan a safe and happy place for all
  • Provide a voice for children in how school develops
  • Encourage children to become active citizens

In the past, the School Council have been involved in:

  • Conducting surveys to gauge pupil voice on a range of issues including play equipment, break times and assemblies
  • Leading initiatives to improve pupil safety in and around school
  • Leading various fundraising events
  • Securing funding from the Home School Association for music stations for each of our dining rooms
  • Working with the Eco Warriors to gain the Silver Eco Award
  • Developing our fruit tuck shop

This year, we are not just going to be fundraising, but taking part in charitable events that have a positive impact on the wider community and on children around the world.  This will involve 'Operation Christmas Child'.

We are also partnering up with Forest Schools and Eco-Warrirors in an attempt to make the environment around the school grounds more eco-friendly.

We have lots of exciting times ahead!
