This year, Athelstan’s Student Council will be working with Mrs Baker to discuss school issues and improve school life.

The School Council aims to:

  • To give all our pupils an opportunity to improve our school and make it the best it can be
  • To support our school in enabling everyone to THRIVE
  • Provide a voice for children in how school develops
  • Encourage children to become active citizens by taking part in all that school has to offer
  • To help raise money for charity both local and national

In the past, the School Council have been involved in:

  • Conducting surveys to gauge pupil voice on a range of issues including play equipment, break times and assemblies
  • Leading initiatives to improve pupil safety in and around school
  • Leading various fundraising events
  • Securing funding from the Home School Association for music stations for each of our dining rooms
  • Working with the Eco Warriors to gain the Silver Eco Award and Green Flag status
  • Developing our healthy tuck shop

As well as fundraising, the School Council also take part in charitable events that have a positive impact on the wider community and on children around the world.  This year they have chosen charities that are supporting mental well being in children

They also partner up with the Eco-Warriors in an attempt to make the environment around the school grounds more eco-friendly.

We have lots of exciting times ahead!
