SCHOOL MEALS

Our lunch time menu is provided by Taylor Shaw Caterers and is prepared and cooked fresh in our school kitchen each day.  Our menus operate on a three week rota.  Click on the link below to take you to the Taylor Shaw website, where you will find out what's on offer.  We encourage our parents and carers to talk to their child each morning about their choice of school dinner.  Children choose either a red, purple, yellow, green or blue meal (grab bag sandwich) when the teacher takes the morning register.

Athelstan's Lunchtime Experience

Our School Council have worked really hard with the Senior Leadership Team over the past few years to try to make lunchtime into more of a 'restaurant' and 'family dining' experience, with a focus on good manners.

Each dining hall has a theme with table top blackboards on each table.  Each table in the junior dining hall is named after different types of tree whereas the infant dining hall is all about creatures that live under the sea.

Pupils are able to sit with their friends, regardless of whether they are having a school dinner or a packed lunch.  Water jugs and cups are available on each table for all pupils to help themselves and the younger children have older pupils to help them with this.  Please remember that pupils having a school dinner are not permitted to bring their own drinks.

We hope we have created a much more enjoyable dining experience for all of our pupils.

Packed Lunches

We understand that some parents and carers would prefer their children to bring a packed lunch into school, rather than having a hot dinner.  We always encourage our pupils to eat healthily - click on the link below for lots of great, healthy packed lunch ideas.
