• Scholastic Book Fair

  We will be holding a Scholastic Travelling Books fair in the infant dining room between 3.05pm and 3.45pm, on Friday 10th, Monday 13th, Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th June. You will be able to enter school via the breakfast club doors.

   

  Children will also be able to visit the book fair with their class during the week:

  Thursday 9th June              Y3

  Friday 10th June                 Y4

  Monday 13th June               Y2 and Y5

  Tuesday 14th June              Y1

  Wednesday 15th June          Foundation & Y6

   

  Every book purchased earns us free books for our school. Prices start at just £2.99 and there are a number of ways to pay.

  1. You can access the catalogue on the Scholastic website and pre-purchase books using this link: https://bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/pay/1208369 . Payments open today and must be completed by 3pm on Wednesday 15th June.
  2. You can also buy a pre-paid ‘gift card’ for your child with a set amount of money to spend at https://bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/travelling-books/gift-vouchers . You will simply need to show or print the confirmation email, or forward it to your child’s class teacher.
  3. If you prefer to send your child to school with money, please send them with coins or notes no larger than £5 in a named envelope.

• Year Group Showcases

  Foundation - Wednesday 13th July

  Y2 - Tuesday 5th July

  Y3 - Friday 15th July

  Y4 - Thursday 7th July

  Y5 - Thursday 14th July

  Y6 - Montgomery Theatre Performance - Wednesday 22nd June - evening

• Athelstan Community Writing Week 2

  You may remember that back in November, we asked you to participate in our first ever Community Writing Week. We loved seeing the writing sent in by children and their families, and so ask you to join us again for Community Writing Week 2 from 20th - 26th May.

  The theme of Community Writing Week 2 is poetry!

  We want to encourage children, adults, siblings, grandparents, aunties and uncles - anyone and everyone at home - to join in with some poetry-writing activities throughout the week. Anyone can be a poet, and it’s a lot easier than you might think.

  On Friday 20th May, the week will launch with a getting-started video on the school website and on Google Classroom. There will then be an app and Google Classroom message every day Monday to Wednesday to give you some more writing ideas.

  In addition to writing at home, we would like to take the opportunity to invite families of Y2-5 children into classrooms for some extra-special Early Bird Wording sessions where you will have the chance to write some poetry alongside your child.

  All parents/carers are welcome to join their child in their classroom from 8.35am to 8.50am. You will be able to enter your child’s classroom through the way your child normally enters school. Please note the amended days for this short week.

  Parents of Foundation and Y1 children, your Early Bird days remain unchanged and there will be the option to read poetry with your child this week.
